Learn the story behind the song “REBELS!”
It all started at last year’s SyncCamp— an initiative organized for SPACe members, where we connect music creators with Polish and international music supervisors. Participants write and produce songs in small teams, working on real briefs for specific scenes in films and commercials. It was during these workshops that the song “REBELS!” was created, which ended up in the film “Psoty.”
During SyncCamp, Patrycja Bukowska presented a specific brief: they needed a song to open Kacper Lisowski’s film *Psoty*. Dawid Majewski, Magdalena Szczebiot, and Icelandic composer Jóhannes Ágúst sat down to write and produce the track. They invited Ula Milewska (who can currently be seen on the show “Your Voice Sounds Familiar”) to sing.
The result of this work was a pop-post-punk track with simple harmonies and distorted guitars, providing the perfect backdrop for the youthful rebellion depicted in the film. From among the entries created during the camp, director Kacper Lisowski selected this particular song in an internal competition. The track was refined, recorded at Dreamsound Studio, and woven into the film’s opening credits.
