On March 22-25, a delegation from the Society of Audiovisual Music Authors SPACe attended the prestigious MUSEXPO conference in Burbank, one of the most important meetings of the global music and film industry. It was a time of intense talks, valuable contacts and countless inspirations. The SPACE crew soaked up knowledge, made contacts and thus built further career paths.
At the heart of the world’s music-to-image industry
One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the headquarters of APM Music – considered one of the largest, and by many, the largest music library in the world. It is from here that music for Hollywood film productions, hit series and international advertising campaigns is licensed.
For our delegation, it was a unique opportunity to get an inside look at the mechanisms of the American music-to-image market: what the brief circulation looks like, how a world-class catalog is built, and what criteria really determine the selection of a piece by music supervisors and A&R teams.
What did we bring back from California?
- Relationships with key players – music supervisors, publishers, producers and film studio representatives
- Knowledge of the latest trends in sync, publishing and composer collaboration with global productions
- Inspiration and concretes – dozens of ideas to implement for Polish creators
- Strengthened position of the Polish film music industry in the international arena
- Memories for a lifetime and the power of motivation to work even harder and grow.
SPACe’s participation in MUSEXPO is not just an opportunity for individual composers – it’s a joint representation of the entire community. We show the world that Polish audiovisual music is ready for the biggest challenges.
Thank you to everyone who is making this history with us. This is just the beginning!
